XT- 2000® is a naturally occurring essential oil containing the active ingredient d-limonene. This citrus oil is derived from the rind of the orange and is used in a variety of products from pet shampoos to household cleaners.
XT-2000® is 92% pure d-limonene!
When injected directly into termite galleries, XT-2000® kills termites and their eggs on contact. Should a termite be lucky enough to avoid physical contact with XT-2000®, it can also die if it eats any wood that has been recently treated with the product. The reason XT-2000® and d-limonene are so devastating to termites is because of its exceptionally high citric acid content. This highly acidic pH level is of minimal consequence to humans, but to termites it is fatal. XT-2000® will melt the exoskeletons and eggs of termites that come in contact with it, and should these pests be unfortunate enough to devour any wood that was recently treated, their stomachs will suffer a similar fate. Although XT-2000® will biodegrade in about four days, during that residual period, termites that eat treated wood through which d-Limonene travels will also be eradicated.
Another amazing property of XT-2000® is its ability to actually wick through wood, traveling through the porous cells in all direction and even defying gravity! Orange Oil will not only treat the areas into which it is injected, but will soak into the surrounding areas as well.

Termites have been around for millions of years. They are the ultimate “Survivor”. It is absolutely impossible to eliminate termites, but very possible to “control” them. For many years the Pest Control Industry treated termite infestations with chemicals. The industry accepted the use of these synthetic compounds because it believed there was no other way to treat for termites. There is a large amount of new information on the biology and behavior of termites, which has led to new termite treatment methods to control termites.

In addition, when pest control operators choose old traditional methods, the homeowner soon realizes the inconveniences and expense associated with these techniques. Bay Area Termite offers Orange Oil treatments that do not subject the homeowner to these inconveniences.

Termite is the common name for numerous species of social insects that cause damage to wooden structures. Termites display patterns of social behavior that are almost as elaborate as those of ants, bees, and wasps. They have survived lengths of time and have evolved thru millions of years much like the cockroach.
Termite colonies, which may number from 100 to more than 1 million termites, have several different castes with different functions. Three principal castes exist: the reproductive, the workers, and the soldiers. The reproductive, or the king and queen, produce eggs.
There are a variety of termites in the United States but they all have one thing in common: left alone, they’ll eat you out of house and home. The three kinds of termites Bay Area Termite treat are the drywoods, subterraneans and dampwoods. It is easy to identify a termite by looking at three things. First, termites have straight antennae not elbowed or bent like an ant. Second, the ant has a pinched waist; the termites waist is not pinched-in. Third, termites have four wings that are of equal length.

Termite infestation is a fear of almost every homeowner in that they can cause serious, destructive and costly damage. There aren’t too many ways to actually prevent termites from entering your home but there are ways to prevent infestation and to identify early stages of infestation. Identifying early infestation will prevent serious damage and save you a lot of time and aggravation.

Here are some tips to help you identify some of the most common signs of termites

1. Wings- If you see wings around the outside of your home or in the inside of your home than it could be that termites have invaded the area in or around your home. Termites shedding their wings when they are swarming in the area, so if you do find a consistent amount of wings for a few days then you should definitely get an inspection from a professional exterminator.

2. Sawdust- Small piles of sawdust is another strong indicator of a termite problem. This could indicate that termites have been chomping away at some wood in your home.

3. Termite tubes are tube like tunnels that termites build so that they can go from their colonies underground to your home. These can be identifiable for some but are easiest identified by a trained exterminator.

4. Mud-looking material-Mud looking material on wooden surfaces is often a sign of termite infestation. When termites eat away at the wooden interior of your home, they will attempt to cover up or patch up the holes which they have made with dirt. They use dirt as well as their own feces to create a substance to patch these holes, and it looks like mud.

5. Observing termites- If you find termites, chances are they will look yellow or white. While there are over 40 species of termites in the U.S., most termites share the basic characteristic of being yellow or white.

Killing off a termite infestation is harder than finding it on your own. Make sure you take the time to find a reliable exterminator to help you get rid of the problem.
